Happy birthday Watanuki!!! <3
(It’s also the birthday of multiple Syaorans and Sakuras, but…they make my head hurt.)
The Tower is the only tarot card I actually fear, thanks in large part to Kaori Yuki’s utterly terrifying use of it as a motif in Godchild. What made that so effective was that unlike the rest of time, she wasn’t playing fast and loose with tarot meanings. That was exactly what it meant. And unlike other stereotypically “scary” cards like Death and The Devil, which are only scary if you don’t know what they really mean, The Tower actually represents very negative things: disaster, ruin, and traumatic loss of illusion. The context made it nightmarish.
Still, not fearing other cards doessn’t mean that my heart didn’t stop for a second when The Three of Swords came up as my friendships & relationships card in a reading of myself. I’m hoping it just means romantic rejection, ‘cause I don’t really mind that sort of thing and it’s waaay preferrable to the alternatives.
